Glensheen

The historic Congdon estate, was constructed for Chester and Clara Congdon on 22 wooded acres of Lake Superior shoreline. Completed in 1907, the furnished Jacobean Revival house and landscaped grounds were among the grandest examples of the wealth and culture of duluth at the beginning of the 20th Century. In 1968, Glensheen was given to the University of Minnesota by the heirs of Congdons. Since July 28, 1979, over 2 million visitors have experienced Duluth's elegant past at Glensheen.
