UMD Sustainability
|
Site Under ConstructionWhat is sustainability?Sustainability is described as meeting current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Meeting the U of M Regent’s Policy on Sustainability and Energy Efficiency will require a continuous effort integrating environmental, social, and economic goals through design, planning, and operational organization. Campus CommitmentUMD is a signatory of the American College and University President's Climate Commitment. To meet these commitments, UMD is conducting a campus greenhouse gas inventory to determine how much carbon we are emitting, and look for ways to cut back our emissions. Why are we here? Our goal is to make sustainability a central theme for everything we do at UMD. To help in those efforts, an Office of Sustainability was established in Fall 2008, which will communicate, coordinate, and assess sustainability efforts on the UMD campus. Contribute
