Meal Plans Policy



The following are Dining Services policies for Meal Plans during the 2013-2014 school year.

Dining Services offers several types of meal plans to accommodate the diverse needs of the campus community.
While each meal has its own characteristics, there are similarities among all plans:

Residence-Hall Meal Plans



Residence-Hall Meal Plans are comprised of three distinct plans:


How do the plans work?


These plans allow for up to 10, 14 or 19 meals per week. However, you can only have three meals per day, maximum. For example, the 10 meal plan means 3 meals per day (max), up to 10 meals per week. The 14 meal plan allows for three meals per day (max), up to 14 meals per week


Where do these plans work?


Residence-hall meal plans can only be used in Dining Center.


Who is eligible for residence-hall plans?


Students residing in residence-halls are required to purchase one of these three plans.





Meal Plans for Off-Campus Students



There are two Off-Campus Meal Plans to choose from:


How do the plans work?


The Economy Meal Plan allows for three meals per week. However, you may only consume one meal per day, maximum. No guest meals are available for this plan.


The Preferred Meal Plan allows for five meals per week. However, you may only consume one meal per day, maximum. This plan also includes two guest meals per semester at no additional charge. Guest meals can only be used one per day.


Where do these plans work?


Off-Campus Meal Plans for students are accepted in the Dining Center, Burger Hub, Daily Special, Fresh Works, Grab N' Go, Taste of Italia and Northern Shores Coffee House.


Who is eligible for the Off-Campus Student Meal Plans?


These meal plans are available for all students not residing in Residence-Halls. Meal plans are tax free for all students.





Meal Plans for Faculty and Staff



There are two Faculty and Staff Meal Plans to choose from:


How do the plans work?


The Economy Meal Plan allows for three meals per week. However, you may only consume one meal per day, maximum. No guest meals are available for this plan.

Meal Plans for faculty and staff are accepted in the Dining Center, Burger Hub, Daily Special, Fresh Works, Grab N' Go, Taste of Italia and Northern Shores Coffee House.


Who is eligible for the Faculty and Staff Meal Plans?


These meal plans are available for all Faculty and Staff of UMD. The plans are taxable.






Refunds



We will refund your plan within the deadline for "refund and exchanges" for the semester. All cancellations are effective the first Monday following the request for cancellation. The amount of your refund will be pro-rated to the last week when your plan is active.
