OUR MISSION:
The First Year Experience & Students in Transition Program at UMD works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and families to provide new students and those in transition with personal connections, knowledge and resources that will foster lifelong learning and participation in a diverse community. FYE & SIT is a part of the Division of Academic Support and Student Life at University of Minnesota Duluth.

Freshman Students
First Year Experience & Students in Transition provides many programs and services designed to help first year students with their transition into the university community. Advisement & Registration, Welcome Week & Bulldog Bash and a newsletter series called The Spectrum are just a few of the services we provide.

Transfer Students
First Year Experience & Students in Transition provides assistance to transfer students through our Advisement & Registration program, the Transfer Student Welcome at Bulldog Bash, and by assisting transfer students in finding specific campus resources. Transfer students are always welcome to stop by our office with questions and concerns.

Parents of New Students
The staff members in First Year Experience & Students in Transition understand and recognize that parents and guardians play a significant role in helping their sons/daughters prepare for college life. Several of our programs have a parent/family component, including Advisement & Registration and Welcome Week & Bulldog Bash.
