During Bulldog Welcome Week you will become familiar with UMD's academic expectations, make new friends, meet faculty and staff, explore the campus, and get connected to UMD.

Bulldog Welcome Week begins with move-in on Thursday, September 3 and continues through the first week of classes. New freshman students are required to attend the Bulldog Welcome Week events starting on Friday September 4 and continuing through September 7, 2009. Bulldog Welcome Week is a great way to dive into your UMD experience! During the long weekend, you will:

  • become more familiar with UMD's academic expectations
  • make many new friends—including other new students and current UMD student leaders
  • meet faculty and staff
  • learn some tips for keeping on top of your finances during college
  • connect with student organizations, campus activities and ways to get involved
  • get to know the campus and campus resources
  • explore the city of Duluth
  • get connected to UMD!

Optional Welcome Week activities for all students will continue through September 8 - September 13. For more information please visit the Kirby Student Center website at http://www.d.umn.edu/kirby/.

New transfer students are welcome, but not required, to attend many of the events. If you are a transfer student who wishes to join in Bulldog Welcome Week, please email First Year Experience & Students in Transition at fye@d.umn.edu.

We strongly encourage you to throw yourself into the program and get connected. Be bold and be friendly! It will help you to have a great start to your UMD career!
