What is Advisement & Registration
(Academic Orientation)?
Advisement & Registration is intended to give new students an introduction
to academic life at UMD and a sense of the commitment required to pursue
a bachelor's degree. During Advisement & Registration, you will meet other
new students; attend a college meeting on degree, major, and course requirements;
meet with an adviser to discuss your interests in pursuing a bachelor's
degree; and select your first semester classes.
Please note that you have a finite amount of time to respond to your invitation to Advisement & Registration. If you were admitted to UMD prior to April 14, 2008, the deadline to confirm your Advisement & Registration date is May 1, 2008. If you were admitted after April 14, 2008, you must confirm your Advisement & Registration date within four weeks of your admission to UMD. If it is after the deadline, you must contact the Office of Admissions at 218-726-7171 ( or 1-800-232-1339) to inquire whether you may still confirm a space on the fall 2008 class.
All new undergraduate students are required to pay a $40 orientation fee (sometimes called the Advisement & Registration fee or the confirmation fee). The fee is non-refundable. For more information on the fee, please click on the Costs for Advisement & Registration link below.
