Directions to UMD Parking Lot A
for Advisement & Registration

When you come to Advisement & Registration, you will park in Lot A. Special parking arrangements have been made for Advisement & Registration guests to park in this lot. You will be required to display (on your dashboard) the orange "LOT A" parking permit that was sent in your confirmation packet. If you have lost your special permit, please plan to arrive at Lot A between 8:45 and 9:45 a.m. on your Advisement & Registration day; please look for the attendant at the entrance to the lot and ask for a replacement permit. UMD Parking Services does ticket cars that do not display the proper permit.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Major reconstruction of Woodland Avenue has prompted a revision of the directions to UMD that are printed on the Advisement & Registration parking pass and in our Advisement & Registration publications. If you are traveling north to UMD on I-35, or from Wisconsin via Superior, or from northern Minnesota via Two Harbors, please use the directions below. (If you are approaching campus from central Minnesota/the Range, this update does not apply. The previous directions may be followed.)

From I-35:
From I-35, take exit #258 (21 st Avenue East). Follow 21 st Avenue East to Woodland Avenue (top of the hill). Take a right onto Woodland Avenue. At the stop lights, turn LEFT onto Kent Road/8 th Street. Follow Kent Road/8 th Street until the stop sign at 19 th Avenue East. Turn RIGHT on 19 th Ave East. At the stop light, turn RIGHT onto College Street. Turn LEFT on University Avenue. Park in Lot A, which will be the first parking lot on your left. PLACE THE GOLD PARKING PASS ON YOUR DASH. This parking pass is enclosed in your confirmation materials. Follow the outdoor and indoor signs for Advisement & Registration to the Kirby Ballroom.

From Central Minnesota (Range Cities):
Follow Highway 53 (Miller Trunk Highway) to Arrowhead Road (stop lights just past Menards). Turn left onto Arrowhead Road. Continue on Arrowhead Road to Woodland Avenue (approximately 5 miles; there will be a stoplight). Turn right on Woodland Avenue. Travel on Woodland and turn right on W. College Street (just past Clover Street). UMD will be on your right. Turn right onto University Drive, the first major entrance to campus. Park in Lot A which will be on your left. Place your orange LOT A parking permit on your dashboard. Follow the outdoor and indoor orientation program directional signs to the Kirby Ballroom.

From Wisconsin via Superior:
Take Highway 53 to Duluth. Take the I-35 North exit and follow the “From I-35” directions above.

From Northern MN via Two Harbors:
Take Highway 61 to Duluth; Highway 61 becomes London Road. Follow London Road toward the city and turn right onto 21st Avenue East. Follow 21st Avenue East to Woodland Avenue (top of the hill). Turn left on College Street. UMD will be on your right. Turn right onto University Drive, the first major entrance to campus. Park in Lot A which will be on your left. Place your orange LOT A parking permit on your dashboard. Follow the outdoor and indoor orientation program directional signs to the Kirby Ballroom.

Prior arrangements with UMD police must be made for overnight parking on campus.
