STUDENT LEADERSHIP IN FYE & SIT:
First Year Experience & Students in Transition is one of the biggest providers of student leadership opportunities at UMD. Each year we work with more than 275 student leaders, who are a vital part of our programs and services. All leadership positions in FYE & SIT require a 2.5 minimum GPA. Applications and interviews are required for all positions; leadership positions are competitive.
Advisement & Registration Panelist and Parent Tour Guide
The Opportunity:The Advisement & Registration program needs many people helping to greet and talk with families and students. We train student volunteers to be on panels for new students (College & U Panel) and a panel for parents (Parent Panel). We also hire students to provide tours of campus for the parents and to greet families when they arrive on campus in the parking lot.
Who is Eligible: We also invite those who work on these programs and/or as Student Advisors to be Lunch Buddies with the new students on A&R days. Many of our most experienced student leaders enjoy doing these positions; they are also provide great ways to get started providing leadership within the FYE & SIT programs. Freshmen are welcome to apply.
Application Timeline: Please stop by the FYE & SIT Office at 60 Solon Campus Center in mid-January for more information and application. Students will be interviewed and notified of hiring decisions by mid-February for training and work in the spring term.
