First Year Experience & Students in Transition

The First Year Experience & Students in Transition office provides assistance to transfer students through our Advisement & Registration program, Fall Welcome (UMD’s fall transfer student orientation day) and the Transfer Touchpoints program.   If you have a question or concern, and you do not know where else to go, stop by our office, give us a call or send us an e-mail. We will answer your question, address your concern, or point you to the right person or office that can!

Advisement & Registration for Transfer Students

In order to register at UMD for the first time, you must be advised through this program. Read more.

Class Transfer Manuals

New transfer students are sent a copy of their Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) by the Admissions Office after admission to UMD. The online Transfer Manual can help understand how credits from other colleges will transfer to UMD. Questions about how credits transfer should be directed to the UMD Admissions office: 1-800-232-1339. Read more.

New Student Guide

The New Student Guide is given out at our in-person Advisement & Registration sessions. It is available here in PDF format. The New Student Guide answers many common questions asked by new UMD students. Read more.

Fall Welcome

There will be a welcome and orientation program for new transfer students on Labor Day, Monday September 5th, 2011. The schedule for this program will be posted here later this summer. Please watch your UMD e-mail in August for further information on Fall Welcome.

Transfer Touchpoints Program

New transfer students at UMD are invited to participate in the Transfer Touchpoints Program. Touchpoints is designed to assist transfer students during their first term at UMD as they transition to the UMD system and community. New transfer students are connected with a Touchpoints Advisor, a current upper division student who is trained to provide individual guidance and support through information resources and referrals to FYE & SIT staff or other collegiate/campus resources. Contact Becky Thelen 726-8863 rthelen@d.umn.edu for more information.
