Transfer Students at UMD
The First Year Experience & Students in Transition office provides assistance to transfer students
through our Advisement & Registration program, Welcome Week & Bulldog Bash, and our transfer student welcome sessions. Transfer students are always
welcome to stop by our office with questions and concerns.
Click on the links below for more information about our services.
- Advisement & Registration for Transfer Students Starting at UMD? This mandatory program will help you register for your first semester of classes and start of your UMD education on the right foot. Students have the option to attend a session in person or to arrange for an alternate session.
- Bulldog Welcome Week This event includes activities for all new freshmen UMD students. New transfer students are encouraged, but not required, to attend. A special transfer student welcome session is held the day before classes begin.
- Transfer Student Guide The Transfer Student Guide is given out at our four in-person Advisement & Registration sessions. This web version can assist students who do an alternate A & R session. The Transfer Guide answers many common questions asked by new transfer students. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (see below) to access this publication.
- Transfer Manuals New transfer students are sent a copy of their Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) by the Admissions Office after admission to UMD. Click here for information on how courses at your old college may transfer to UMD.
- Transition Issues Many students are surprised by the academic differences between their old college and their new one. Other students experience transition issues related to personal and social adjustment.
