Hartley Nature Center Environmental Analysis
http://www.hartleynature.org/

Earl Rosenwinkel (Hartley Nature Center)

Hartley Nature Center is using GIS to help manage the ecological features of Hartley City Park and its environs. The center is collecting all the data and images available of the park of 660 acres. Major sources of data have been the early farm maps and info from 1896 to 1918, a series of air photos going back to 1948, a late 30's soil texture profile survey (over 1000 7'holes), various downloads off the web such as a topographic map & presettlement (public land survey) tree flora and vegetation distribution, CSA forestry classification, and data from various agencies. Field data is being collected by the center from field investigators and the staff and their classes of birds, amphibians, vernal ponds, stream invertebrates and others.
