University of Minnesota - Risk Analysis for Introduced Species and Genotypes (IGERT) program seeks applicants to entering one fo thier Ph.D. programs. This Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) Program is supported by the National Science Foundation and focuses on policy-relevant research.Areas of research interest include: Invasive plant evolution, Ecology of GMOs and other novel genotypes, Prevention of invasion, Confined ecological risk assessment, Restoration ecology, Science and technology policy, Biological control of invasives. L’ORÉAL USA Fellowships for Women in Science Program - As part of its commitment to further help women scientists achieve their goals, L’Oréal USA awards each recipient $40,000 to apply toward their postdoctoral research. The L’ORÉAL USA Fellowships for Women in Science are awarded to women engaged in basic research in the life and physical/material sciences, technology (including computer science), engineering and mathematics. Coral Reef Ed-Ventures: An Environmental Education Program for Children in San Pedro, Belize - Now in its ninth year, the Coral Reef Ed-Ventures Program engages Smith College undergraduate students in leading a two-week intensive inquiry-based experience for about 70 children ages 7 to 11, as well as teacher workshops that focus on using the reefs, beaches, and other local resources as tools for teaching. The central intent of the Coral Ed-Ventures curriculum is to teach children what an ecosystem is and to increase their awareness of the environmental and economic benefits of a healthy reef ecosystem.
