Welcome Message

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Graduate School Office web page. Here you will find information and resources for prospective and current students, faculty members, and others seeking information about graduate education on our campus.

UMD offers several program choices as well as a number of joint program choices with the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus. Over 500 graduate students are based at UMD, in fields from across the natural, social and applied sciences, arts and humanities, and professions such as Social Work and Education. We offer primarily Masters degrees but a Doctor of Education degree is also offered, as well as a small number of PhD degrees through all-University and cooperative programs involving the Twin Cities campus.

UMD offers a unique setting in which to conduct advanced study. We are located in the most inland port city in the world, at the western terminus of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway. The stunning natural setting offers unparalleled opportunities for research and recreation in fresh water aquatics, natural resources, the arts, applied sciences, and much more. The campus’s first-rate facilities, and its connection to the University of Minnesota system, further advantage our students.

As an office of the systemwide University of Minnesota Graduate School, we serve directly those UMD-based and intercampus programs that are offered under the auspices of The Graduate School. However through our website you will also find links to those for three programs that are offered independently through individual Colleges at UMD.

We invite you to explore this site and to contact us with any questions you may have at the address, telephone number or email address listed above.
