UMD works as a campus to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

Hands in Game
...we believe that having a diversity of perspectives supports and enhances the academic and research mission of the University.

From the Associate Vice Chancellor

Hello! We are glad you are here! The Graduate School works to foster the recruitment and retention of high-caliber students having a wide range of experiences and backgrounds because we believe that having a diversity of perspectives supports and enhances the academic and research mission of the University. Advancing equity, diversity, inclusiveness and social justice within the campus community is a primary strategic goal, and we strive to create a campus climate in which all students, faculty, and staff feel empowered to reach their full potential. In addition to connections within individual graduate programs and departments, there is a range of resources, services, and organizations on campus to support students from underrepresented groups, as the list below demonstrates. We invite you to explore these offerings, and let us know how we can make you feel welcome!

--Erik Brown, Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research
