PHE Responsibilities

We are looking for students who have an interest in both learning about sexual health or alcohol issues and sharing that information with other students in various ways. 

The main topics the sexual health group covers include:

• Contraceptives
• STI’s
• Healthy Relationships
• Abstinence

The alcohol peer educators cover these topics:

• Recognizing the Signs of Alcohol Poisoning
• What to do if Someone Has Alcohol Poisoning
• Responsible Drinking/Risk Reduction

Our approach will be to provide knowledge to students, therefore making them better equipped to make decisions regarding their own health. 

We will choose students who have a skill/interest in one or more the following three core forms of education. 

• Class Presentations
• Writing a Newsletter
• Distributing Condoms to Students on the UMD Campus

Members meet weekly to receive current information and training.  The Peer Health Educators will provide class presentations by request.
