The Student Health Advisory Committee is a group of dedicated students
who act as a student voice to UMD Health Services and school administration.
Members meet weekly for one hour to discuss current issues and brainstorm solutions.
SHAC members are given the opportunity to volunteer additional time on special projects throughout the year.

SHAC Mission
LISTEN to student health care needs.
EVALUATE Health Services policy.
PROMOTE public health at UMD.
IMPROVE health care at UMD.
SHAC Responsibilities
- Recommend new programs/policies or modify existing programs/policies
- Conduct periodic student needs assessments
- Work closely with Health Services staff to help resolve complaints including those left in the Suggestion Box located in the lobby of Health Services
- Hold campus-wide forums at least once per semester to get feedback about current issues

Vending options on campus
We are surveying students and building support to incorporate more nutritious food options in vending machines on campus, and to make nutritious food accessible after hours.
