 University Honors


University Honors (UH) students are required to take one UH course and one UH non-course experience every year, complete a capstone project, and attend several UH and UMD special events.

Graduation requirements:

  1. Complete four UH courses* following the flexible options outlined below:

    a) The standard model is one course per year for four years.

    Standard Model:

    b) There are four alternative models for students who need flexibility with their course schedule. You can double up on UH courses either freshman or sophomore year but you cannot double up again. Also, you must take at least one class freshman and sophomore year. Here are the four alternative options:

    Alternative Models:

    *Students who plan to graduate in less than four years need to schedule a meeting with the director of University Honors to develop a UH course enrollment plan.

  2. Complete one UH non-course experience each year for four years (for a total of four)

  3. Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher

  4. Complete all UH Capstone Project requirements

  5. Attend all UH required events and advising meetings
