Probation and Readmission Policies
Probation Policy
In order to maintain good standing in the ATEP, the student shall:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Earn no less than a C- in the following courses: ESAT 2610, 2620, 2697, 2698, 3210, 3300, 3400, 3410, 3420, 3430, 3600, 3630, 3632, 3640, 3642, 3697, 3698, 4001, 4600, 4646, 4650, 4697, and 4698; HLTH 2030 and 2040.
If these criteria are not maintained, the following actions will be taken:
- The student will receive written notification from the program director concerning probationary status.
- The student must meet with the program director to determine a course of action to remedy the problem. The student must follow through with the course of action set by the program director to be considered for reinstatement to their assigned clinical rotation.
- The student will have their clinical rotation hours reduce by 50%.
- Sophomores will only be allowed to complete 5 hours per week.
- Juniors and Seniors will only be allowed to complete 10 hours per week.
- This requirement will be checked weekly, and cannot be exceeded. Violation of this policy will result in immediate removal from the program.
- Grade checks will be turned in at the mid-term of the semester.
- If the student is showing progress at the midterm, they will be allowed to return to a full clinical rotation load
- If the student has not achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher by the end of the probationary period, they will be removed from the program, and will need to reapply for admission.
- The student must retake any required course for the major in which they receive a grade lower than a C-.
Readmission Policy
Students who have been removed from the program will be considered for readmission to the program once the following criteria have been met:
- GPA and coursework requirements listed above are satisfied.
- Student has addressed any outside conflicts that may have caused removal from program, such as outside work conflicts.
- Students may re-apply for admission at least one semester following dismissal from program.
- Students will be readmitted to the program at the level they were dismissed.
