The Passionate Pursuit of Perfection in Physical Education Teacher Education

The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program is committed to preparing highly trained physical education teachers.  The PETE program is a rigorous blend of activity skills, foundational science, and methodology applied to the teaching of physical education in the public schools.  The goal of the program is to provide prospective physical education teachers with the knowledge, skills and professional dispositions to be successful.

The faculty members of the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program expose physical education teacher education candidates to the students of the public schools as early and as often as possible.  Children are brought to campus to be taught by PETE candidates early in their programs.  Students will spend significant portions of their final three semesters teaching public school children in their school setting while being mentored by University faculty members and the cooperating physical education teachers at those sites.

The Physical Education Teacher Education faculty members are seeking highly motivated students who are open to mentoring and willing to strive to become the best physical education teacher professionals for the new century.

Are you ready for the challenge?
