Lyndsey is the UMD Study in England Programme and UMD International Education Office Marketing coordinator. Lyndsey grew up in New Hope, MN and has family roots in Wisconsin where her parents are from.  Lyndsey loves anything and everything British.  She studied abroad in a town in the North East of England called Alnwick (pronounced Anick) during the fall semester of her senior year.  She lived in Alnwick Castle, which is the home of the Duke of Northumberland and is also where the flying broomstick scene took place in the first Harry Potter film.  Lyndsey is a graduate from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and minor in Human Relations.  After graduation, she went back to Alnwick, England and worked as the Associate Director of the study abroad program she participated in.  Lyndsey returned from England at the end of August 2007 and has been an employee in the UMD International Education Office ever since.  Lyndsey is currently a graduate student at UMD pursuing a Masters of Education.  In her free time she enjoys running, going to concerts, and spending time with her family and friends.  When time and money permit, travel is at the top of her to do list.  She hopes to visit India, Africa, and New Zealand in the near future and also explore more of the United States.  One of the best parts of Lyndsey’s job in her opinion is watching the transformation that takes place in the students that she works with pre/post an international experience.

Kenny Kruger
Peer Advisor

Email: kruge131@d.umn.edu

Kenny is a senior chemical engineering student from Nashwauk, MN. He enjoys anything outdoors and the more random, the better. He studied in Perth Australia fall semester 2010. His favorite part of study abroad was meeting people all over the world; about 75% of the students at Curtin University where he studied were non-Australian students. He went on a road trip up Australia’s west coast which consisted of 3 Australians, 2 Britons, 2 Swedish, 1 Vietnamese, and 1 American. Another one of his interesting experiences was working on his student visa as an electrician helper. Meeting a large number of different people on the house calls allowed him to soak in the Australian culture along with making extra spending money. His advice: “The International Education Office has numerous study abroad opportunities to fit your wants and needs, we’re here to help you find one and guide you along the process. You don’t know what you are missing out on until you look.”

Matt Manor

Peer Advisor

Email: mano0027@d.umn.edu

Matt is a senior Geological Sciences major who enjoys doing just about everything outdoors including photography, scuba diving, cycling, and of course, rock collecting.  He has had the travel bug since his first trip to the Bahamas in 2004 and has not slowed down since.  So it was no surprise that he jumped on a plane to study abroad for a semester in New Zealand and a J-term in the Bahamas!  His favorite experience abroad in New Zealand was meeting people from all over the world and seeing the beautiful countryside.  Climbing glaciers and mountains, diving the Poor Knights Islands, and camping are only a few highlights he experienced on his journey.  The Bahamas also gave him an opportunity to conduct research in another country, learning from others that have come from all over the world to study the biology and geology of San Salvador island.  His one piece of advise to all those looking to study abroad is: "DO IT! You will learn more about yourself than you could have ever dreamed, encounter new experiences and challenges, and make memories that will change your life forever."
