How not to be a Victim of a Crime

• Be aware of your surroundings
• Move confidently
• Stay in well-lit, busy areas, especially after dark
• Employ the "buddy system" (don't go anywhere alone)
• Be aware of scams
• Avoid confrontations
• Avoid public demonstrations
• Blend in
• Dress like the locals
• Don't walk with maps or guidebooks
• Act conservatively
• Drink responsibly
• Become familiar with local customs
• Never leave bags/luggage unattended
• Take only a manageable amount of luggage
