Incoming Exchange StudentsThe International Education Office (IEO) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) would be pleased to accommodate you at our institution for one semester or longer. With at least 75 fields of study, we are confident you will find courses that will meet your needs. Outside academics, there are numerous seasonal and year-round athletic, sport and recreational activities to participate in, including sailing, skiing, rock climbing, hockey, soccer and even surfing! The campus also has it's own performing arts theater, art museum, music hall and planetarium. The UMD campus overlooks Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes and largest freshwater lake in the world, by surface area. The campus spreads over nearly 1 km² with more than 50 buildings, mostly interconnected by concourses and hallways. Downtown locations are roughly 3 miles (4.8 km) away. Duluth Transit Authority maintains a bus hub at UMD with connections to downtown and area.
