H1N1 virus update for UMD IEO study abroad programs
5/21/09
The Education Abroad Suspension Committee (EASC) of the UMN system has removed the system-wide ban on student travel to Mexico and the University no longer advises against nonessential travel to Mexico. UMD students wishing to study in Mexico this summer or later are encouraged to consult the resources available in the IEO to locate programs of interest.
UMD programs planned for May 2009 remain cancelled, however The Intensive Fieldwork in Mexico program will be offered again during January 2010 term.

Palaces, pubs, and...palm trees? In England? The UMD Study in England Programme introduces you to this fascinating country of surprising and unexpected contrasts. From the beaches of Cornwall in the south, through the moors of Devon, the villages of the English countryside, to the Lake District in the north, the English landscape intrigues the eye and challenges common ideas about this "Land of Hope and Glory".
If you have the spirit to make this commitment, the rewards are priceless. We invite you to apply to study in Birmingham, England, for 2009-2010 and explore England!
Program Highlights:
- Earn UMD credit and fulfill a variety of liberal education requirements towards your degree
- Attend class four days a week leaving 3 day weekends for optional travel in the UK and Europe
- Participate in 3-4 field trips per semester in the UK
- Live in student flats on the main University of Birmingham campus with other American program participants and British and International students
- Receive on-site support from UMD program director, UMD faculty and the on-site associate director
