Information for Accepted Students

Students on UMD programs

After an application has been submitted, the application will be reviewed. Accepted students will receive an official letter of acceptance from the International Education Office. The letter will also include information about next steps, including important dates and directions to complete additional required materials.

The International Education Office will provide assistance to students for completing necessary application materials, such as foreign university study abroad applications and visa applications. Students will also receive information about passports and traveling. Accepted students will be responsible for:

  • Completing necessary additional materials from UMD and the foreign university (if applicable)
  • Understanding the nature of signed agreements
  • Submitting required deposits and materials by deadlines noted
  • Ensuring UMD records are up-to-date (e.g. no holds on account, tuition paid on time, etc.)
  • Any additional points noted in the General Study Abroad Handbook

Please note, if applying to a study abroad program with a foreign university, final acceptance will come from the foreign university. Students will be notified by the foreign university about their acceptance as well as receive directions on next steps as they require.

Students on non-UMD programs

Students studying on a program not sponsored by UMD should submit their application directly to the program sponsor. They will receive notification of acceptance directly from the program sponsor. Once accepted, a student will be required to complete additional materials from the International Education Office.
