Study in England Programme Director Application

Program Description

UMD’s Study in England Program is a multi-faceted study abroad program that will celebrate it's 30th year with the 2009-2010 program.

Each year UMD sends about 45 students, 4 semester faculty, and 1 Director to Birmingham, England. The program office, faculty offices and classrooms are located in the Alan Geale House on the Selly Oak campus of the University of Birmingham. All students take courses offered by UMD professors and by contract British/European professors who are hired by the program. Some students, when scheduling permits, are able to take classes with British and International students at the University of Birmingham.

The Selly Oak campus is located on Weoley Park Road, about one mile south of the flagship University of Birmingham campus, three miles south of Birmingham city center, and a little over a mile from the flats where our UMD faculty live while in residence. The program office is conveniently located near library, athletic, and shopping facilities.

Director Benefits

Aside from reaping the many rewards that come from working closely with students who are learning to make their way in a global world, there are many distinct advantages to participating in the Study in England Program.

"The most satisfying part of my directorship was seeing the students grow...", Linda Miller Cleary, Director Study in England Programme 2007-2008

  4. Attach several sample teaching evaluations
  5. Attach the names and email addresses of three people who are willing to serve as references and who can comment on your qualifications to direct the program
