Exchange in Finland

The University of Minnesota Duluth has one reciprocal exchange with at a Finnish university. Only University of Minnesota students can participate in a reciprocal exchange. Many courses are offered in English and though most Finns also are able to speak English, you may wish to jump on the opportunity to take a beginning course for Finnish language if you have no prior knowledge of the language. Besides excellent academic programs at our partner university, our exchange offers much more. You will meet students from throughout Scandinavia and Europe as well as other American and international students. These social contacts can enrich and change your life. During school breaks you have an opportunity to travel throughout Europe. In addition to these benefits, the UMD exchange programs are among the most affordable offered to students anywhere in the U.S. Get out of a rut and explore the Nordic countries!

The University of Joensuu is located in the city of Joensuu in eastern Finland about 80 kilometers from the Finnish-Russian border. The university is well known for its program on Karelia, Russia and the Baltic States (including Russian Studies) as well as programs in environmental science and forestry, educational sciences, social sciences and law.
