UMD Programs in GreeceThe University of Minnesota Duluth offers a short-term program to Greece. Greece has a rich cultural heritage and is regarded as the cradle of western civilization as well as the birthplace of democracy, western philosophy, western literature, political science, important scientific principles and drama and the Olympic games. It is the oldest democracy with over 11 million people in this member country of the European Union. As a mostly mountainous Mediterranean country with many hundreds of islands dotting the seas, the climate and geography varies dramatically. Students will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore many of the ancient mysteries of Greece from the Bronze Age to the modern period. The group will discover the rich cultural heritage of ancient Greece, its archaeological, historical, and ethnographic character in a most rewarding trip through a country filled with monuments, majestic mountains, brilliant blue sky and turquoise waters, and warm and friendly inhabitants. On this trip, you will “Come Home to Greece” in a very real sense. |
