Some Mulberry users find they have saved mailboxes (usually large ones) that they don't want to delete but would rather not store in the Mail directory of their account due to file storage costs. Mulberry 2.1.2 or later can create a "local" storage area for mailboxes on your computer's hard disk (usually in the Mulberry folder) where you can store older or large mailboxes.
Keep in mind that mailboxes stored on your account are automatically backed up by ITSS and are also protected from others accessing them without your password. We recommend you back up mailboxes you save to your hard disk by periodically copying your Mulberry folder to a CD or ZIP disk.

Once you've created a local mailbox storage area you can create new mailboxes in this area. You can also copy previous mailboxes into your local storage area, but you'll find it easier to do so once you've created at least one new local mailbox.

Remember that to avoid losing your local mailboxes due to hard drive failure be sure to periodically copy the folder containing your local mailboxes to a CD or ZIP drive (backing it up to your account on the Novell server would also work but would negate any file storage charge savings). The "Default Location" that Mulberry will use for your local mailbox storage area is in your Mulberry application folder if you're using Windows or OS9, or /Users/youraccountname/Documents/Local Mailboxes if you're using OSX.
