Accessing a Course Not Assigned to You

We pull the course assignments from the PeopleSoft database several weeks before classes begin, and frequently, there are courses that do not have an instructor assigned at the time. Instructor assignments might also change during the intervening weeks.

If you have been given a course assignment, but it is not included in your list of courses in eGradebook, you may still be able to create the gradebook, provided another instructor has not already done so.

To create a new eGradebook if it does not appear in your list:

  1. click on the link "Create a New eGradebook"
  2. you will see a list of classes (by section) for which you are the official instructor of record. You will also see a section at the bottom of this list with two blank fields:
list of available egradebooks plus line to add one
  3. click the button in front of the line of two blank fields
  4. in the first field, enter the department abbreviation
  5. in the second field (immediately to the right of the first field), enter the class number. Do NOT add the section at this point. select the "Using preferences from:" if you have an existing gradebook you wish to use as a template
    1. choose from the drop-down list the class you wish to duplicate for preferences
  6. click the "Create Gradebook" button
  7. on the next page, you will see a list of sections for this course
  8. click ONE section to select it and click the "Submit Query" button

If the section has already been assigned to another instructor, please contact one of the system administrators to have the gradebook reassigned. These people are: Shelly McCauley Jugovich (smccaule@d.umn.edu), Bruce Reeves (breeves@d.umn.edu) and Melissa Jokela (mjokela@d.umn.edu).
