Printing

Print queues have been set up in Active Directory for many network printers on campus. Below are details on how to add an AD printer to workstations that are also on AD.

If your printer is on the network but is not in the printer list, please contact the ITSS HelpDesk (x8847, itsshelp@d.umn.edu) and provide the following information:

Printer network name (for example: kplz191-lw)
Make and model of printer (for example: HP 4500N)

Windows 7

If you have a Windows 7 computer that has been added to Active Directory:

If you are on wireless or off campus, sign in to UMD's VPN service.
Sign in to the computer with your AD credentials (your Internet/email name and password).
Click on "Start".
Click on "Devices and Printers".
Click on "Add a printer".
Click on "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer".
Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed".
Click on "Find a printer in the directory, based on location or feature".
Click on "Next".
In the Search results, click on the printer you want to add.
Click on "OK".
After successfully adding the printer, click on "Next", then "Finish".
