Chem 150: Using the Wired Microphone.

1. Obtain the keys.

The Chem 150 equipment key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in Chem 150.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the cabinet doors.

AV equipment is located in the two rightmost sections of the instruction table as you face the class. Use the Chem 150 equipment key to unlock and open these doors.

The equipment cabinet door locks are located on the cabient above the door handles.

3. Plug in the microphone.

The microphone is located on the bottom right hand side of the cabinet.

The microphone is located at the bottom of the cabinet.

Take it out of the cabinet. Plug it into the MIC1 receptacle on the right-hand side of the instruction table.

The microphone should snap into the receptacle.

Then place the other end on you in the position you prefer for your presentation.

4. Turn on the audio amplifier.

The audio amplifier is located on the second shelf on the left hand side of the AV cabinet. It is normally left on and the VU meter on the front glows when the unit is powered. If it is not glowing, press the power button on the amplifier.

The audio amplifier power button is located on the right side of the amplifier.

5. Test the microphone.

The microphone volume level on the audio amplifier should be preset unless someone has changed it. If the volume is not correct, check and adjust the dial on the amplifier labeled MIC1.

The microphone volume dial is the top left dial on the front of the amplifier.

The dial on the amplifier labeled Master adjusts the overall volume level of all devices connected to the room audio system. Adjust it up or down as necessary, but be aware that this also adjusts the volume for the other devices mentioned. It is best to adjust the MIC volume using the MIC1 dial rather than Master.

6. When you are finished return the microphone to the bottom of the cabinet.

Unplug the microphone from the MIC1 receptacle on the right-hand side of the instruction table.

Return it to the bottom of the cabinet.

7. Close and lock the cabinet doors.

Close and lock the AV equipment cabinet door using the Chem 150 equipment key.

The equipment cabinet door locks are located on the cabient above the door handles. Please double check to make sure these doors are locked.
