Chem 200: Using the Projection Screens.

1. Obtain the keys.

The Chem 200 equipment key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in Chem 200.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Lower the projector.

The projector is located above the ceiling and is raised and lowered by an electric lift mechanism which is controlled by a key switch. The key switch is located on the front wall between the projection screen up/down controls on the left and the lighting control switches on the right.

The key switch is a standard type lock.

To lower the projector, use the Chem cabinet key to turn the key switch to the Show position.

The Show position is to the right.

Hold the key in that position until the projector automatically stops in the correct position for video presentations. It takes about 45 seconds for the projector to lower into position.

3. Lower the screen.

The DOWN position button is a standard push type button.

There are two projection screens in Chem 200, each raised and lowered by an electric motor. Use the screen at the center of the front wall for video projector presentations. To lower the screen, press the Down arrow button on the screen control switch. Press the button once and release it. The screen will automatically stop in the correct down position. This switch is located on the front wall of the auditorium, just to the left of the keyed switch for the projector lift mechanism.

4. Turn on the projector.

The projector remote is located in the equipment cabinet. It is labeled "Projector Remote". To turn the projector on, press the STANDBY/ON button.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

Warm-up will begin. It should take the projector a moment to warm up.

5. Use the Computer and AV equipment.

See further documentation for using the Computer and AV equipment in this room. Chem 200 is equipped with a PC, Mac, slide projector, VCR, and flex camera.

6. Turn off the video projector.

To turn the projector OFF press the STANDBY / ON button.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

The following message will be displayed on the screen
"Power off?"
"yes; press power button"

The message will disappear by any operation or by no operation for five seconds. If you are sure you want to turn off the projector, press the STANDBY / ON button a second time within that five second time slot. The projector lamp is extinguished and the lamp cooling begins. The unit will shut itself completely off shortly.

Replace the remote in the cabinet.

7. Raise the projector back into the ceiling.

To raise the projector back into the ceiling, use the Chem 200 cabinet key to turn the key switch to the Up position.

The key switch is a standard type lock.

Hold the key in that position until the projector automatically stops in the up position. It takes about 45 seconds for the projector to raise completely.

8. Raise the projection screen.

The UP position button is a standard push type button.

This switch is located on the front wall of the auditorium, just to the left of the keyed switch for the projector lift mechanism.
