Chem 200: Using the Wireless (Lavalier) Microphone.

  1. Obtain the keys.
  2. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet door.
  3. Turn on the wireless unit.
  4. Press the LAV MIC button on the control panel.
  5. Adjust the sound (optional).
  6. Turn off the power on the wireless unit when finished.
  7. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

1. Obtain the keys.

The equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the cabinet door.

Use the cabinet key to unlock and open the left cabinet door of the instruction table.

The lock is located at the top of the cabinet door.

3. Turn on the wireless unit.

A lavalier type wireless microphone is located in the cabinet. Take it out and place it on you in the position you prefer for your presentation.

The wireless microphone is located the top left shelf of the cabinet beside the audio amplifier.

Slide the power button to the ON position A green on light should illuminate.

The power button is located on the top of the unit.

If it doesn't illuminate replace its battery. Spare batteries are located in the cabinet.

4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.

This classroom is equipped with a control system panel that eliminates individual remote controls and power switches.

It is located on the top front corner of the instructor station.

It is above the cabinet door.

Press the ON button.

This button is the top, left one on the control panel.

The projector will begin warming up. After two to three minutes the projector will be ready for use.

5. Press the LAV MIC button on the control panel.

The microphone is controlled with buttons located on the control system panel on the top front corner of the instructor station.

It is above the cabinet door.

 

Press the LAV MIC button.

This button is the botom button on the left side.

6. Adjust the sound (optional).

The control panel has several buttons to control and adjust sound.

You can mute, raise, or lower it.

Volume Buttons
There are two volume buttons. Press the second button from the top on the left side of the control panel to increase the volume. Press the button directly below that one to decrease the volume.
Mute Button
Press it once to cut the sound. Press it a second time to restore the sound. This button is the on the left side, on the bottom of the control panel.

7. Turn off the power on the wireless unit when finished.

Slide the power button to the off position

The power button is located on the top of the unit.

7. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

Close and lock the doors using the equipment key.
