Playing a DVD

1. Obtain the keys.

The Cina 214 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet door.

A.V. equipment is located in the equipment cabinet/podium at the front of the room. This cabinet has two locks. Use the equipment cabinet key to unlock them.

One lock is located at the top, right side of the cabinet door.

Then open the doors.

3. Lower the screen(s).

This room has two projection screens located at the front of the room. Pull the cord on one or both of the screens that you will be using.

The projection screens are the window shade style that are raised and lowered manually..

4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.

This classroom is equipped two projectors. It is also equipped with two control system panels which eliminates individual remote controls and power switches.

The two control panels are located on top of the podium. One is for the" Window Wall Projector". The other is for the "Hallway Wall Projector".

It is on the right side in the top right corner.

Press the DVD/VHS button for either the "Window Wall Projector" or "Hallway Wall Projector".

This button is the top, right one on the control panel.

The projector will begin warming up. After two to three minutes the projector will be ready for use.

5. Press the DVD/VHS button on the control panel.

Press the DVD/VHS button.

This button is on the right side of the control panel, second from the bottom.

6. Turn on the closed caption converter if needed.

The close caption converter is located in the equipment cabinet. Press the closed caption power button.

The closed caption decoder power button is on the right side of the unit.

A red indicator light shows when it is on.

7. Turn on the DVD.

The DVD/ VCR combo unit is located in the podium/instructor station.

It has both a VCR and a DVD player in a single unit.

The unit has two sections.

The DVD controls are clustered on the right side and the VCR controls are clustered on the left side of unit.

Press the POWER button.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

The unit will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate.

8. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button in the DVD section.

The OPEN/CLOSE button is the first button on the right of the front of player.

9. Place your DVD on the tray.

Hold your disc by its edges and gently place it into the tray with the playback side down. Their are two different disc sizes. Place the disc in the correct guide, If the disc is out of the guide, it may damage the disc and cause the DVD player to malfunction. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc tray.

10. Press the PLAY button.

The PLAY button is the third button from the right on the front of the player.

Press the PLAY button. The disc will begin. The disc tray closes automatically. You can use the VCR/DVD remote for additional functions as needed while playing your disc.

11. Adjust the sound.

The control panel has several buttons to control and adjust sound.

You can mute, raise, or lower it. You can also blank the video.

Volume Buttons: There are two volume buttons. Press the second button from the top on the left side of the control panel to increase the volume. Press the button directly below that one to decrease the volume.
Mute Button: Press it once to cut the sound. Press it a second time to restore the sound. This button is the on the left side, on the bottom of the control panel.

12. Adjust the lighting.

The lighting controls are located by the exit. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes. It is best to adjust the lights after you have started so you can more easily see the operating controls.

13. Press the STOP button.

To stop playing the disc press the STOP button.

The stop button is the fourth button on from the right on the front of player.

14. Eject your disc.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button.

Remove your disc.

15. Press POWER to switch off the DVD player.

Press the POWER button. The VCR/DVD unit will shut off.

16. Turn off the system.

This button is the top, left one on the control panel.

The projector lamp will turn off. Approximately one second after that the, lamp will be cooled for about a minute. Then the system will be completely shut off.

17. Raise the projection screen(s).

Pull the cord(s) on the screen(s).

The projection screens are the window shade style that are raised and lowered manually.

18. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

Close and lock the doors using the equipment key.

Please double check to make sure that it is locked.
