H 403: Playing a DVD

  1. Obtain the keys.
  2. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet door.
  3. Lower the screen.
  4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.
  5. Press the DVD/VHS button on the control panel.
  6. Turn on the DVD.
  7. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.
  8. Place your DVD on the tray.
  9. Press the PLAY button.
  10. Adjust the sound.
  11. Adjust the lighting.
  12. Press the STOP button (optional).
  13. Eject your disc.
  14. Press ON/STANDBY to switch off the DVD player.
  15. Turn off the system.
  16. Raise the projection screen.
  17. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

1. Obtain the keys.

The equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet door.

A.V. equipment is located in the equipment cabinet/podium at the front of the room. This cabinet has two locks. Use the equipment cabinet key to unlock them.

One lock is located at the top, right side of the cabinet door.

Then open the doors.

3. Lower the screen.

The projection screen is located at the front of the room.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.

Pull the cord on the screen to lower it.

4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.

This classroom is equipped with a control system panel that eliminates individual remote controls and power switches.

The control panel is located on top of the podium.

It is on the right side in the top right corner.

Press the ON button.

This button is the top, left one on the control panel.

The projector will begin warming up. After two to three minutes the projector will be ready for use.

5. Press the DVD/VHS button on the control panel.

Press the DVD/VHS button.

This button is on the right side of the control panel, third from the top.

6. Turn on the DVD.

The DVD player is located in the podium/equipment cabinet.

If the the player is not already on, press the ON/STANDBY button.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

The unit will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate.

7. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.

The OPEN/CLOSE button is the third button from the right.

8. Place your DVD on the tray.

Hold your disc by its edges and gently place it into the tray with the playback side down. Their are two different disc sizes. Place the disc in the correct guide, If the disc is out of the guide, it may damage the disc and cause the DVD player to malfunction.

9. Press the PLAY button.

The play button is on the left side of the player. It is the second one from the right.

The disc tray closes automatically. The player starts playback (continuous play). Depending on the disc, a menu may appear on the screen. You can use the DVD remote for additional functions as needed while playing your disc.

10. Adjust the sound.

The control panel has several buttons to control and adjust sound.

You can mute, raise, or lower it.

Volume Buttons
There are two volume buttons. Press the second button from the top on the left side of the control panel to increase the volume. Press the button directly below that one to decrease the volume.
Mute Button
Press it once to cut the sound. Press it a second time to restore the sound. This button is the on the left side, on the bottom of the control panel.

11. Adjust the lighting.

The lighting controls are located by the exit. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes. It is best to adjust the lights after you have started so you can more easily see the operating controls.

12. Press the STOP button (optional).

While playing a disc, you can press the STOP button to stop playback. "Resume" will appear on the front panel display.

Tip: To play from the beginning of the disc, press stop twice, then press play.

13. Eject your disc.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button and remove your disc.

The OPEN/CLOSE button is the third button from the right.

 

14. Press ON/STANDBY to switch off the DVD player.

Press the ON/STANDBY button. The player enters standby mode.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

15. Turn off the system.

This button is the top, right one on the control panel.

The projector lamp will turn off. Approximately one second after that the, lamp will be cooled for about a minute. Then the system will be completely shut off.

16. Raise the projection screen.

Pull the cord on the screen to raise it.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.

17. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

Close and lock the doors using the equipment key.

One lock is located at the top, right side of the cabinet door.
