MonH 108: Using the Document Camera

  1. Obtain the keys.
  2. Unlock and open the cabinet doors.
  3. Lower the screen.
  4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.
  5. Press the DOC CAMERA button on the control panel.
  6. Turn on the Document Camera.
  7. Select internal input on the selector.
  8. Place your document on the staging area.
  9. Adjust the image.
  10. Adjust the lighting.
  11. Turn off the Document Camera.
  12. Turn off the system.
  13. Raise the projection screen.
  14. Close and lock the cabinet doors.

1. Obtain the keys.

MonH 108 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the cabinet doors.

The large cabinet in the front left corner of the room contains operating controls and other equipment. Use the MonH 108 equipment cabinet key to unlock and open the cabinet doors.

Two locks are located on the front of the cabinet doors.

3. Lower the screen.

MonH 108 has two projection screens. They are raised and lowered by electric motors. The switches that control the screens are located in the cabinet. To lower a screen, the press hall or window screen switch to the down position.

The screen controls are regular light type switches.

4. Turn on the classroom technology control system.

The control panel is located on top of the podium/instructor station.

It located on the left side corner on top of the podium.

Press the "ON" button for either the "Window Wall Projector" or "Hallway Wall Projector".

This button is the top, left one on the control panel.

The ON button passes the signals from the equipment to the projector. If you want to turn off the signal without turning off the projector, use the BLANK button.

5. Press the DOCUMENT CAMERA button on the control panel.

The control panel is located on top of the podium/instructor station.

It located on top of the podium, left front corner.

Press the DOCUMENT CAMERA button for either the "Window Wall Projector" or "Hallway Wall Projector".

There is Doc Camera button for each projector.

The projector will begin warming up. After two to three minutes the projector will be ready for use.

6. Turn on the Document Camera.

The Document Camera is located on the table beside the podium.

The POWER button is located on it's base. Turn it to the "ON" position.

It is the first button on the left side of the staging area.

7. Select the light source.

Press the "LAMP" button on the base of the document camera.

It is the third button from the right side, in the bottom row.

The "LAMP" button rotates document camera lighting functions. The first time you press the button the upper lamps go on. The second time you press the button light box goes on. The third time you press the button all lights go off.

Use the upper lamps to project paper documents and other materials, and use the light box lamp to project transparencies.

8. Place your document on the staging area.

Place the object on the light box, and adjust the head to face the object.

9. Adjust the Image.

Use the control buttons on the base of the document camera, to adjust the projected image. While observing the image on the screen make adjustments to get optimum image quality.

To adjust the focus automatically, press the "AF" button.

It is the fourth button from the right side, in the top row.

To adjust the zoom, press "ZOOM" button up or down.

It is the large button in the middle.

To adjust the brightness, press the "IRIS-" button or the "IRIS+" button.

They are the third and fourth buttons from the right side, in the top row.

To adjust the image color automatically, press the "AWC " button.

It is the second button from the right side, in the bottom row.

To adjust the image sharpness , press the "APERTURE" button.

It is the botttom button, between Power and Zoom.

To switch from positive to negative, press the "NEGA/POSI" button.

It is directly above the aperture button.

10. Adjust the room lighting.

The projector provides the best picture quality and brightness in a dark or dimly lit room. The switches are in the cabinet. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes.

The switches control the front and back lighting and have dimming options.

11. Turn off the Document Camera.

Press the "LAMP" button on the document camera until all lights are off. The "LAMP" button rotates document camera lighting functions. The first time you press the button the upper lamps go on. The second time you press the button light box goes on. The third time you press the button all lights go off.

The power button is located on it's base. Turn it to the "OFF" position.

12. Turn off the system.

This button is the top, right one on the control panel.

The projector lamp will turn off. Approximately one second after that the, lamp will be cooled for about a minute. Then the system will be completely shut off.

13. Raise the projection screen.

Press the switch of projection screen that you have been using (either the Hall Side or Window Side) to the up position.

The screen controls are regular light type switches.

14. Close and lock the cabinet doors.

Close and lock the cabinet doors using the MonH 108 equipment cabinet key.

Two locks are located on the front of the cabinet doors.
