MonH 108: Using the Conference Phone.

1. Obtain the keys.

MonH 108 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the cabinet doors.

The large cabinet in the front left corner of the room contains operating controls and other equipment. Use the MonH 108 equipment cabinet key to unlock and open the cabinet doors.

Two locks are located on the front of the cabinet doors.

3. Take out the conference phone.

The conference phone has three arms and looks like a starfish amputee.

It also resemples a mutant boomerang.

Take it from the third shelf on the left side of the cabinet

Place it in the middle of a conference table for 360 degree coverage allowing all meeting attendees to take part in the conference call.

4. Place a call.

Press the ON/OFF button.

The on/off button is the top one on the left.

You will hear a dial tone and then the indicator lights will turn green. Dial the phone number using the speakerphone keypad.

5. Answer a call.

When the conference phone rings, press any button except for the arrows to answer the call. The indicator lights will turn green to signal that the speakerphone is on.

6. Adjust the volume.

The microphones are at the ends of the arms. Unlike many conference phones, this one doesn't require you to shout, even if you're three or four feet away. The built-in microphones have automatic gain control so you can speak in a normal tone and be heard clearly at the other end.

The phone has 25 volume levels that can be adjusted by pressing the up or down arrow buttons

The indicator lights will flash each time you change the volume level until the maximum or minimum level is reached.

The ringer volume may be adjusted by pressing the up or down button on the keypad while no call is in progress. The speaker volume may be adjusted by pressing the up or down button on the keypad while a call is in progress.

7. Mute a conversation (optional).

Each "arm" has a MUTE button. To turn off all of your microphones during a conversation, press any of them.

The indicator lights will flash red to signal that you cannot be heard at the other end of the line.

To turn on the microphones, press any of the MUTE buttons again. The indicator lights will turn green.

8. End a conversation.

Press the ON/OFF button.

The on/off button is the top one on the left.

The green indicator lights will turn off.

9. Replace the conference phone in the cabinet.

Return it to the second shelf on the right side of the cabinet.

10. Close and lock the cabinet doors.

Close and lock the cabinet doors using the MonH 108 equipment cabinet key.

Two locks are located on the front of the cabinet doors.
