MWAH 191 : Playing a Video Tape.

1. Obtain the keys.

The MWAH 191 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet doors.

The projector controls and other equipment are located in the equipment cabinet at the front of the room. This cabinet has one lock. Use the equipment cabinet key to unlock it.

The lock is located on the right hand side of the door.

Then open the door.

3. Lower the screen.

The projection screen is located at the front of the room.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.

Pull the cord on the screen to lower it.

4. Turn on the projector.

The projector remote is located in the equipment cabinet. It is labeled "Projector Remote". To turn the projector on, press the STANDBY/ON button.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

Warm-up will begin. It should take the projector a moment to warm up.

5. Turn on the closed caption converter if needed.

The close caption converter is located in the equipment cabinet. Press the closed caption power button.

The closed caption decoder power button is on the right side of the unit.

A red indicator light shows when it is on.

6. Turn the VCR dial on the amplifier.

The audio amplifier is located in the cabinet. It is normally left on, and a small green light on the front of the amplifier indicates when it is on. If the green light is not on, press the power button on the amplifier. If the volume for the VCR is not correct, check and adjust the dial on the amplifier labeled VCR.

The VCR dial is the second one fron the left on the amp. The power button is the first one on the right.

The dial on the amplifier labeled Program adjusts the overall volume level of all devices connected to the room audio system. Adjust it up or down as necessary, but be aware that this also adjusts the volume for the microphone. It is best to adjust the VCR volume using the VCR dial rather than Program dial.

7. Turn on the VCR.

The DVD/ VCR combo unit is located in the podium/instructor station.

It has both a VCR and a DVD player in a single  unit.

The unit has two sections.

The DVD controls are clustered on the right side and the VCR controls are clustered on the left side of unit.

Press the POWER button.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

The unit will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate.

8. Insert the videotape into the VCR.

The tape insertion area is located in the front left section of on the face on the VCR.

9. Press the video projection button on the projector remote.

The Video Button is the second button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

Pressing the video button on the projector remote will allow the image to be projected to the class.

All of the projector functions are controlled from the remote. Adjust the picture size using the zoom button and the focus using the focus button on the remote if required.

10. The tape should play automatically. If it doesn't press Play.

The power button is the third button from the the left on the front of the player.

11. Adjust the lighting.

The lighting controls are located by the exit.

The projector provides the best picture quality and brightness in a dark or dimly lit room. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes. It is best to adjust the lights after you have started so you can more easily see the operating controls. Restore the room lighting when you are finished.

12. Remove your tape and turn off the VCR when you are finished.

Press the eject button to remove your tape.

The stop/eject button is the first button from the the left on the front of the player.

Press the power button to turn the VCR off.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

13. Turn off the video projector.

To turn the projector OFF press the STANDBY / ON button.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

The following message will be displayed on the screen
"Power off?"
"yes; press power button"

The message will disappear by any operation or by no operation for five seconds. If you are sure you want to turn off the projector, press the STANDBY / ON button a second time within that five second time slot. The projector lamp is extinguished and the lamp cooling begins. The unit will shut itself completely off shortly.

14. Raise the projection screen.

Pull the cord on the screen to raise it.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.

15. Close and lock the equipment cabinet door.

Close and lock the equipment cabinet door using the equipment key.

The lock is located on the right hand side of the door.

Please double check to make sure that the cabinet is locked.
