MWAH 191 : Using the Wired Microphone.

1. Obtain the keys.

MWAH 191 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Unlock and open the cabinet door.

The projector controls and other equipment are located in the equipment cabinet at the front of the room. This cabinet has one lock. Use the equipment cabinet key to unlock it.

The lock is located on the right hand side of the door.

Then open the door.

3. Turn on the audio amplifier.

The audio amplifier is located in the cabinet. It is normally left on, and a small green light on the front of the amplifier indicates when it is on. If the green light is not on, press the power button on the amplifier. If the volume for the VCR is not correct, check and adjust the dial on the amplifier labeled VCR.

The VCR dial is the second one fron the left on the amp. The power button is the first one on the right.

The dial on the amplifier labeled Program adjusts the overall volume level of all devices connected to the room audio system. Adjust it up or down as necessary, but be aware that this also adjusts the volume for the microphone. It is best to adjust the VCR volume using the VCR dial rather than Program dial.

4. Test the microphone.

Take the wired microphone which is located in the cabinet and place it on you in the position you prefer for your presentation.

The wired microphone is usally kept beside the amplifier.

Check the audio amplifier volume levels. If the volume for the microphone is not correct, check and adjust the dial on the amplifier labeled MIC.

The wired microphone dial is the second dial from the left on the front of the amp.

The dial on the amplifier labeled Program adjusts the overall volume level of all devices connected to the room audio system (the VCR and the microphone). Adjust the Program dial up or down as necessary, but be aware that this also adjusts the volume for the VCR. It is best to set VCR dial to minimum and then adjust the microphone volume using the MIC dial rather than Program dial.

5. Replace the microphone when finished.

Recoil the cable and place it beside the amplifier on in the cabinet.

The wired microphone is usally kept beside the amplifier.

6. Close and lock the cabinet door.

Close and lock the equipment cabinet door using the equipment key.

The lock is located on the right hand side of the door.

Please double check to make sure that the cabinet is locked.
