SBE 16: Playing a DVD.

1. Obtain the key.

The SBE 16 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Lower the screen.

The projection screen is located at the front of the room.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.

Pull the cord on the screen to lower it.

3. Unlock and open the podium doors.

The projector remote is located in the podium at the front of the room. This podium has two locks. Use the equipment cabinet key to unlock them.

Two locks are located at the top and two locks are located at the bottom of the cabinet doors.

4. Turn on the projector.

The remote is on the shelf in the podium. It is labeled "Projector Remote."

To turn the projector ON, press the STANDBY/ON button.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

5. Press the video projection button on the remote.

The Video Button is the second button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

Pressing the video button will allow the image to be projected to the class.

All of the projector functions are controlled from the remote.

In most cases you will only have to adjust the volume level using the buttons on the remote.

6. Unlock and open the AV closet doors.

The AV equipment is located in the equipment closet at the back of the room. Use the equipment key to unlock the closet's right hand door.

The closet has only one lock.

Flip the latch on the door next to this one to allow it to open and give you full access to the equipment.

The latch is on the back of the door.

7. Press the VCR button on the video switcher.

The video switcher is located in the equipment cabinet/closet. It will switch the video output of the different pieces of equipment in this room. Push the button.

The video vcr button is the first one from the left. The DVD button is the second one from the left.

8. Turn on the closed caption converter if needed.

The close caption converter is located in the equipment cabinet. Press the closed caption power button.

The closed caption decoder power button is on the right side of the unit.

A red indicator light shows when it is on.

9. Turn on the DVD.

The DVD/ VCR combo unit is located in the podium/instructor station.

It has both a VCR and a DVD player in a single  unit.

The unit has two sections.

The DVD controls are clustered on the right side and the VCR controls are clustered on the left side of unit.

Press the POWER button.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

The unit will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate.

10. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button in the DVD section.

The OPEN/CLOSE button is the first button on the right of the front of player.

11. Place your DVD on the tray.

Hold your disc by its edges and gently place it into the tray with the playback side down. Their are two different disc sizes. Place the disc in the correct guide, If the disc is out of the guide, it may damage the disc and cause the DVD player to malfunction. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc tray.

12. Press the PLAY button.

The PLAY button is the third button from the right on the front of the player.

Press the PLAY button. The disc will begin. The disc tray closes automatically. You can use the VCR/DVD remote for additional functions as needed while playing your disc.

13. Adjust the lighting.

The lighting controls are located by the exit.

The projector provides the best picture quality and brightness in a dark or dimly lit room. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes. It is best to adjust the lights after you have started so you can more easily see the operating controls. Restore the room lighting when you are finished.

14. Press the STOP button.

To stop playing the disc press the STOP button.

The stop button is the fourth button on from the right on the front of player.

15. Eject your disc.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button.

The OPEN/CLOSE button is the first button on 
  the right of the front of player.

Remove your disc.

16. Press POWER to switch off the DVD player.

The power button is the left most button on the front of the player.

Press the POWER button. The VCR/DVD unit will shut off.

17. Close and lock the AV closet doors.

Close and lock the equipment closet doors using the SBE 16 equipment key.

Please double check to make sure these dorrs are locked

18. Turn off the video projector.

To turn the projector OFF press the STANDBY / ON button approximately a second or two.

The STANDBY/ON Button is the first button from the top on the left side of the remote unit.

The lamp will turn off and be cooled. Then the unit will be completely shut off.

19. Replace the remote and lock the podium.

Put the remote on the shelf in the podium.

Close and lock the doors using the equipment key.

Two locks are located at the top of the cabinet doors.

Please double check to make sure that it is locked.

20. Raise the projection screen.

Pull the cord on the screen to raise it.

The projection screen is the window shade style that is raised and lowered manually.
