SBE 50: Playing a DVD.

1. Obtain the keys.

SBE 50 equipment cabinet key may be requested by departments or by faculty teaching in this room.

Classroom keys and building master keys do not open these locks. Departments with faculty or staff needing access to the AV /computer equipment may want to have a key in their department office available for checkout. Or faculty and staff who make frequent use of classroom equipment may want to request a key for their personal use. In either case, a key request card must be completed, signed by the Dean or Department Head, and delivered to Facilities Management Key Shop. "AV Cabinets" must be printed at the top of the card to specify that the requested key is for the equipment cabinet and not for the room itself. A separate key request card for the room must be completed to obtain a room key.

2. Lower the screen.

The projection screen is located at the front of the room.

Pull the cord on the screen to lower it.

3. Unlock and open the equipment cabinet doors.

The VCR, projector switcher and other pieces of AV equipment are located in the equipment closet at the back of the room. Use the equipment key to unlock the closet's right hand door.

Flip the two latches on top and bottom of the other door to allow it to open and give you full access to the equipment.

4. Turn on the projector.

The remote is on the shelf in the cabinet. It is labeled "Projector Remote."

To turn the projector ON, press the STANDBY/ON button.

5. Press the video projection button on the remote.

Pressing the video button will allow the image to be projected to the class.

All of the projector functions are controlled from the remote.

In most cases you will only have to adjust the volume level using the buttons on the remote.

6. Turn on the closed caption converter if needed.

The close caption converter is located in the top section of the equipment cabinet.Turn the dial (usually to CC1 or CC2) to activate it.

7. Turn on the DVD.

The DVD/ VCR combo unit is located in the podium/instructor station.

The unit has two sections.

Press the POWER button.

The unit will turn on and the power indicator will illuminate.

8. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button in the DVD section.

9. Place your DVD on the tray.

Hold your disc by its edges and gently place it into the tray with the playback side down. Their are two different disc sizes. Place the disc in the correct guide, If the disc is out of the guide, it may damage the disc and cause the DVD player to malfunction. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc tray.

10. Press the PLAY button.

Press the PLAY button. The disc will begin. The disc tray closes automatically. You can use the VCR/DVD remote for additional functions as needed while playing your disc.

11. Adjust the lighting.

The lighting controls are located by the exit.

The projector provides the best picture quality and brightness in a dark or dimly lit room. You might want to experiment to find the best lighting option for your purposes. It is best to adjust the lights after you have started so you can more easily see the operating controls. Restore the room lighting when you are finished.

12. Press the STOP button.

To stop playing the disc press the STOP button.

13. Eject your disc.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button.

Remove your disc.

14. Press POWER to switch off the DVD player.

Press the POWER button. The VCR/DVD unit will shut off.

15. Turn off the video projector.

To turn the projector OFF press the STANDBY / ON button approximately a second or two.

The lamp will turn off and be cooled. Then the unit will be completely shut off.

16. Replace the remote.

Put it on the shelf in the cabinet at the back of the room.

17. Close and lock the equipment cabinet doors.

Close and lock the doors using the equipment key.

18. Raise the projection screen.

Pull the cord on the screen to raise it.
