Configuring Windows XP computers

Once a modem is installed, you can then configure a connection to UMD.

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the Network Connections icon.
3. Under the "Network Tasks" panel, select Create a connection to the network to start the "New Connection Wizard".
4. In the "Internet Connection" window, choose Dial-up connection and click Next.
5. Select your modem - if appropriate
6. In the "Connection Name" window, type UMD in the ISP Name field and click Next.
7. In the "Phone Number to Dial" window, type 728 7300 in the Phone Number field and click Next.
8. After finishing the "New Connection Wizard", check the Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop checkbox for easy access to the UMD connection icon from the desktop and then click Finish.
