Recovering MSOffice Files

SunRay workstation

Finding and Opening MSOffice files on a SunRay

Since MS Office software is no longer available, OpenOffice has become
the primary means of editing and printing documents on the SunRays. Files saved with MS Office
can still be accessed, but to do so, you need to navigate to a special folder within OpenOffice.

To open a file previously saved in MS Office:

  1. Click on the 'OpenOffice.org' icon on the desktop and wait for
    the program to load.

  2. Once the file selection dialog appears, click the 'My Documents' button,
    then double-click 'windir'.

  3. Finally, double-click on the 'My Documents' folder within the file listing.
All files saved with MS Office will be located here. Simply double-click it to open it, and procede to edit or print it.
