Importing Contacts into Gmail

Going from Apple's Address Book to Gmail

  1. Open your Address Book found in your Applications folder
  2. In the Group column select the address book you'd like to transfer (when in doubt choose "All")
  3. Go to the File menu -> Export -> Export Group vCard... and save to your desktop or other favorite spot

  4. In Gmail, make sure you are in Contacts and click on the Import option in the blue bar
  5. Click on Browse and select to open the vCard file you just saved
  6. Click on the Import button next to the Back button

  7. You should get a screen confirming that your contacts have been imported. Click OK to return to your Gmail contacts.
