Web Course Delivery Workshop
Purpose and Expectations
Purpose of the Workshop
- Teach faculty to develop and deliver web-based courses.
- Increase access to UMD courses by both on-campus and distant students using
technology.
- Provide new learning opportunities for students, using technology to engage
student learners who work well independently.
- Respond to course access and classroom space pressures by offering alternative
course delivery.
- Explore methods of course delivery that may increase efficiency and reduce
costs.
- Decrease travel time for faculty and/or students while reaching students
at a distance.
Expectations for Faculty Participants
- Develop and implement a plan for the adaptation or creation of course materials
for web-based course delivery.
- Attend all scheduled sessions (see Schedule),
preparation work, and a follow-up session (date to be determined).
- Deliver a web-based course no later than Fall 2004.
- Share your results: provide a one-page written report of your accomplishments;
consider giving an IDS workshop on your project; consider providing the URL
of any web site you produce for inclusion in our web resource list.
