UMD Tech Camp 11: May 2008
Purpose of Tech Camp:
- Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of online course delivery.
- Produce course materials and delivery that are enhanced with technology and can serve as a showcase and model for others. This must go beyond simple use of materials prepackaged by publishers or other providers.
- Have new materials available for courses taught beginning spring semester 2009.
- Prepare to enhance the teaching and learning environment with the use of technology tools.
- Learn to teach in an online environment.
Expectations For Faculty Participants:
- Meet with your Tech Camp mentor prior to the camp.
- Develop and implement a plan for the adaptation of course materials.
- Devote seven days to Tech Camp. Do not plan to teach a May Session class, attend a conference, or go to department meetings, etc. during this time.
- Develop an online or hybrid course by September 1, 2008. At best, this course should be able to be delivered fully online. At a minimum, the course must be a hybrid course with some components online.
- Share your results: provide a one-page written report of your accomplishments; consider giving an IDS workshop on your product; provide the URL of any web site you produce for inclusion in our Tech Camp resource list.
- Make effective use of your purchased hardware or software for teaching and learning.
