ITSS staff would like to work with your unit to design the room and determine layout of desks, teaching station, projector, screen, white boards, printers, and other other laboratory or classroom equipment. ITSS staff have more than ten years of experience designing laboratories and high-tech classrooms and have learned important lessons along the way. Take advantage of our expertise to assist you in creating a functional instructional space.
ITSS staff will be happy to assist you in planning the network access and electrical outlets you need in your laboratory or laptop classroom. ITSS staff will order electrical work from Facilities Management and coordinate installation of networking and electrical work for you. First estimates from ITSS are free, but subsequent esimates may be billed. Facilities Management bills for all estimates. Please submit a work order for network connections or for wireless networking.
Network access is billed monthly to support the cost of the infrastructure. Electrical connections have no ongoing rate after installation.
ITSS staff will work with you to help you select the furniture you need for your laboratory or laptop classroom. Our staff will then submit the purchase order, accept delivery of your furniture, and work with the vendor to see that it is installed correctly.
For lab furniture that will support desktop computers, we recommend a standard table size of 2.5' deep by 3.5' to 4' wide. Computer tables come with a standard height. You may wish to include at least one table with adjustable height for people with physical disabilities to use. In our labs we generally choose chairs with wheels, swivel base, adjustable height, and no arms.
