Job Prerequisites

  • Work hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am - 5:30 pm
  • 2-4 year time commitment
  • Must work at least 15-20 hours per week

Essential Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Prompt and reliable work habits
  • Courteous
  • Reliable
  • Able to work under pressure
  • At least two years left at UMD

Selection Criteria/Preferred Qualifications

  • Computing knowledge and skills beyond basic use
  • Technical degrees
  • Industry certifications
  • Number of years remaining at UMD
  • Ability to work break periods and Summer sessions
  • Flexibility in scheduling

 

Job Duties

Major Job Functions

  • Front counter customer service
  • Computer/printer repairs including Windows and Macintosh operating systems
  • Telephone support
  • Networking, spywayre and anti-virus support
  • Some on-site faculty/staff technical triage
  • Responding to incoming Help Desk and Desktop support requests
  • Picking up and delivering equipment
  • Equipment and parts inventory
  • Facilitate daily operational duties
  • Some lifting of equipment
