December 2011

Web Server Requires Users to Switch to SFTP

UCard Campus Cash Changes Coming Spring / Summer 2012
ITSS is working with the Business Office, Library, Auxiliary Services, UMD Stores, and Chemistry to upgrade to a new technology for campus cash. The new technology will still allow use of the Ucard, but the cash value will live in a secure database instead of being magnetically written to the card.
Enterprise Data Warehouse Server Replacement
The Data Warehouse server will be upgraded to an Exadata server on December 18, 2011. This may or may not have an effect on how you access the Data Warehouse tables.
Mobile Learning (m-learning)
Three resources from the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative try to bring clarity to this expansive yet potentially transformative topic.

Each month ITSS highlights a different member of the staff to let you get to know some of the great people who are working "behind the scenes" to make technology work for our campus. This month the spotlight is on Aaron Caveny, Technology Support Professional.
Policy Update: Database Security
ITSS provides a managed database service. To ensure that your data is protected and meets auditor guidelines for security, please consider using this service.
