InterCall Conferencing

infotech.NEWS February 2016

InterCall is a new inexpensive audio and web service for hosting conference calls.

Logo: IntercallWe would like to introduce InterCall to the campus as a new option for hosting conference calls. Our campus phone system allows you to make conference calls by calling each of your participants. This can take a significant amount of time for large groups, and the cost per minute for each of those individual calls you place is more than the InterCall service rate. The University of Minnesota has contracted with InterCall to provide inexpensive audio and web conferencing services. InterCall is a hosted service where all participants call into one dedicated number, often referred to as Meet-Me conferencing.

There are two options available, Reservationless Plus and Operator Assisted.

Reservationless Plus

The Reservationless Plus option allows you to host a conference call from anywhere by dialing a dedicated phone number, conference code and PIN to initiate a call. The rate for this type of call is just $.02/minute/participant.

Operated Assisted

The Operated Assisted option allows InterCall operators to manage the call for you and costs $.17/minute/participant.

WebEx Integration

These services can be integrated with WebEx to host web conferences.

Further Information

When you sign up for an account, you will receive an email with your account information and links for initiating the service. Options also include call recording and playback, a primary/secondary language option, and operator assistance. After the call is completed, a report is emailed to you with the specifics of your call.

More information can be found on the University of Minnesota Conference Center website.

To sign up, consult the InterCall: Sign Up for an Audio Conferencing Account webpage.
